HU Athletics Celebrates 48 NAIA Spring Scholar-Athletes
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Success in the classroom continues to be a defining trait for Huntington University athletics as 48 Foresters earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete recognition for the spring season, as announced by the national office.
The honor recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically while competing in spring sports including baseball, softball, golf, lacrosse, track & field, tennis, flag football, beach volleyball, and men's volleyball.
To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, appear on their sport's eligibility certificate, and attend their institution for a minimum of one full year.
Huntington's impressive total included representatives from baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track & field.
Nationally, baseball led all spring sports with 1,333 scholar-athletes recognized, followed closely by women's track & field (1,219), softball (1,199), and men's track & field (1,029). Golf, tennis, men's volleyball, and women's beach volleyball also produced strong numbers across the NAIA landscape.
