Foresters to compete in NECC Playoffs

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - In its first year of existence, the HU Esports team has splashed onto the scene as one of the most dominant programs in the region.

"Despite this year being our first season and this semester being our first semester in our NECC division, we've made incredible improvements the past two semesters, which have contributed to our continued success this season," said team captain Zach Lail. "All the players have put a lot of work into practicing and strategizing to better improve our gameplay.

"As their team captain, I'm extremely proud of them and the work we've been able to accomplish together."

The Foresters have gone undefeated in regular season play for a 9-0 record heading into the playoffs. Matches are the best of five with Huntington sweeping seven of their opponents (3-0) while their other two wins have gone the distance (3-2) in favor of HU.

As part of the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC), HU is gearing up for the online playoffs with quarterfinal action on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. to live-streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/hu_esports. The Foresters enter postseason play as the #1 seed in their division.

The rest of the tournament will be streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/necc_esports with semifinal action slated for April 21 and the finals set for April 28.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 106 NAIA All-America honors and 421 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S. News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
