No. 10 Foresters Keep Rolling with 5-2 Victory Over #20 Grace
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 10 Huntington men's tennis team secured a hard-fought 5–2 victory over #20 Grace on Thursday afternoon at Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne, earning a key Crossroads League win as the remain perfect in league play at 4-0.
Huntington set the tone early in doubles play, capturing the opening point with wins at two of the three positions. Pablo Lopez Real and Martin Capdevilla led the way with a decisive 6–2 victory at the top spot, while Juan Carrasco and Mateo Batista followed with a 6–3 win at No. 3. Grace managed a 6–4 result at No. 2 doubles, but the Foresters carried a 1–0 advantage into singles.
In singles, Huntington methodically built its lead behind strong performances throughout the lineup. Santiago Sarudiansky was first off the court at No. 3 with a dominant 6–2, 6–1 victory. Juan Carrasco followed at No. 6, earning a 6–4, 6–2 win to extend the Foresters' advantage.
Julian Tantera then delivered the clinching point at No. 1, battling through a three-set match to secure a 6–3, 2–6, 6–3 victory and seal the team win for Huntington.
The Foresters (13-3) added to their total with Javier Lopez Real's comeback win at No. 6, rallying after dropping the opening set to win 6–7, 6–4, 6–1. Grace responded with wins at No. 4 and No. 5 singles in tightly contested three-set matches.
The victory marks Huntington's first win over Grace since a 9–0 sweep on September 5, 2018, and snaps the eight-game wins streak the Lancers held over them.
Huntington returns to action Saturday with a road matchup against Bethel.
