Bio

Ken Shaw was named the head coach of the HU men’s volleyball program in the spring of 2026 as the Foresters prepare for their inaugural varsity season this coming fall.

After two years at the club level, Huntington will transition to varsity status and compete as one of six Crossroads League institutions sponsoring men’s volleyball at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics level.

Shaw brings a wealth of coaching experience to Huntington, most recently serving as an assistant coach at UC Merced. During his two-year stint, he helped guide the Bobcats to their first-ever national tournament appearance while also supporting the program’s transition into the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, elevating its competitive profile among intercollegiate Olympic sports.

Prior to UC Merced, Shaw enjoyed a highly successful run at Stone Ridge Christian High School, where he led both the boys and girls volleyball programs. Over 26 combined seasons, including 19 with the girls program, he compiled 448 wins and guided his teams to 26 playoff appearances. His tenure was highlighted by back-to-back CIF Northern California Division VI Girls Volleyball Championships in 2018 and 2019. Shaw also earned consecutive Merced Sun-Star Female Volleyball Coach of the Year honors and was named league coach of the year a combined 16 times across both programs. On the boys side, he led the Knights to three straight undefeated league seasons from 2017–19.

In addition to his indoor success, Shaw has been actively involved in beach volleyball throughout California’s Central Valley, serving as Director and Head of Operations at Knights Beach Courts and coaching with Triumph Volleyball Academy.

At Huntington, Shaw will not only lead the men’s volleyball program but also serve as director of intramurals and assist with game day management. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Education and Kinesiology from Azusa Pacific University.
