Bio

Gabi Melby serves as the graduate assistant for the HU women’s basketball program. A standout guard and respected leader on the court, Melby brings a wealth of playing experience and basketball IQ to the Forester sidelines.

After beginning her collegiate career at UT-Martin, Melby transferred to Huntington where she made an immediate impact as the team’s starting point guard for three seasons. She wrapped up her Forester playing career in impressive fashion by averaging a team-best 16.3 points per game while leading the Crossroads League in assists with 6.3 per outing as a senior. She also contributed 4.1 rebounds and a team-high 1.2 steals per game, earning First Team All-League honors. The year prior, she was recognized as a Second Team All-League selection.

Melby played a crucial role in guiding Huntington to the 2025 NAIA National Tournament - the program’s first appearance since 2015. Over her three-year HU career, she amassed 1,212 points to claim the 19th spot on the program’s all-time scoring list.

A native of Illinois and graduate of Naperville Central High School, Melby was a Second Team All-State honoree who averaged 16 points and seven assists her senior season. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and is currently pursuing her MBA at Huntington.
