HU Edges Spring Arbor in 4-3 Thriller

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The Huntington women's tennis team bounced back in Crossroads League play Saturday afternoon, earning a hard-fought 4–3 victory over Spring Arbor University on the road at Jones Tennis Complex.

The Foresters set the tone early by claiming the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. Isabella Herrera and Yariange Bello secured a 6–4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Addison Mast and Tiziana Rizzato dominated at the No. 3 spot with a 6-0 shutout.

In singles, Huntington relied on its depth in the lower half of the lineup to secure the win. 

Ashley Bucur delivered a dominant performance at No. 4, winning 6–1, 6–2 to put the Foresters on the board in singles action. SAU captured the next three points after which Rizzato followed with a strong 6–2, 6–3 victory at No. 5, leveling the match and setting up the deciding point. 

The clincher came at No. 6, where Sofia Kurshinskaia battled through a competitive match to earn a 6–2, 6–3 win, securing Huntington's fourth point and the team victory. 

At the top of the lineup, Herrera dropped a 6–2, 6–4 decision at No. 1, while Yariange Bello fell 6-4, 1-6 (7-4) at No. 2. Mast also came up short in a three-set battle at No. 3, 2–6, 7–5, 6–1, as Spring Arbor pushed the match to the final point. 

With the victory, the Foresters are sitting fourth in the league standings with two regular season matches remaining. Huntington returns to action on Wednesday with a home matchup at Klopfenstein Courts against Taylor. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
